//39: Of impromptu night out and adorable sisters.

A friend invited me for Feedback Open Mic sesh at The Bee, Publika - with the sole purpose of catching the up and rising trio, The Impatient Sisters. A few days ago, the vocalist and I kept contacting each other for the band's tres cool t-shirt (and me, being a giant, can't fit into the shirt I ordered, thus needed a return).
--
The girls were super friendly. I was greeted first by them (!! fangirl alert), with hugs and smiles. Sighs :'), we even walked into the venue together (ahihihi). Proceeded with the return and managed to get a seat. The open mic gig was nice, the venue is an awesome spot for that... and I particularly enjoy OJ Law's set.

The girls came to the stage around 10ish, played around 6 songs if I'm not mistaken - with And and The Ark (!! favorites), and they invited their special secret guest - Zee Avi for her song, Anchor. It was surreal because this would be the second time I bumped into Zee in some random show. Wihu! Didn't get to say hi though because I lost her after the show and we had to rush back.

What I love most about the sisters is that, they play a lot of cute instruments such as the kazoo, and their trademark I must say - the xylophone. Their voices sound so good, combined together which makes the perfect harmony. Forever You Know, which a song they didn't play last night sounded almost country-ish but with their own twists, The Ark and Hey There Young Sailor will lull you to such a wonderful world of soft, quirky music.

Comets and Stars was refreshing as always. Eisley-ish, but nice.

I recorded a few, but this one was the most special I guess:

//13: My pocket-sized storyteller.

I had one crazy night last week. Everything was not in order and I had no proper plan at all. But I know I have to see my little storyteller, I have to - I decided to just, Go. The last time she was in town (March,2010) I was gluing myself up and though I love her music so much, that night was horrible for me. My heart wasn't at the right place.

I had my Vox back then. I wrote so much, so much so that it kinda hurts to look back.

But, this time around, I feel her through Concrete Wall, I sang along happily to Just You and Me. It shows kan? How a year can do to you? Like how this time around, I carry my heart with me, and my head too and it was nice... enjoying her chill music all night. I haven't done that in a while, what's more it was with people who appreciates.

It is not just a show. That show is kinda a milestone for me, and I thank you Zee, for making it happen. Zee Avi was perfect that night, she was fun, quirky, appreciative and her songs were mesmerizing. I love how she puts her heart into it (...and how cute her double bass player too ;) ). Love was in the air from where I was standing, though things are so much different now, I am okay with being surrounded by things like that.

I was happy. I am, happy. :)

Birtday(s)/birthweek.

Hello!
--
So, I'm 24 no mwehehe feel so.. surreal being one, i guess? And! My birthday came in the form of super awesomeness - Everyone at work were cheering and wishing me every chances they got (...I've never gotten anyone except my family, to remember and be happy for me on my day, so it was something nice :)), some random conversation with a couple of strangers turns into budding friendships (I hope!), and my darling GL-1 which i haven't got the time to play yet.
--
Last night, was surreal too! I know my birthday is so last two days, but I'm celebrating it all week, just because I can! (and to make up for previous bad birthdays). Liyana Fizi thinks I'm a pretty girl (ehe vain! ehehe) AND my favorite FAVORITE songbird, Zee Avi thinks my name is lovely and she likes my ipod case. Nyehehehs. Safe to say, I'm smitten =) They both, and my awesome friend (and a new friend I made last night) made my night. You don't know how much. Thanks guys!

I met Zee in 2008 when she was the Kokokaina, and was telling her how i love her music and would love to have her album. She humbly responded with "Takdelah, mana ada album, main suka suka je ni, would you buy one if I have one?", then obviously I said yes! :) We took a picture together and the picture was somehow... lost. :(, SO it was so nice seeing her at the launch! And telling her how i love her Ghostbird. (YOU SHOULD GET IT BECAUSE IT IS SO DREAMY). She's one humble person. Tak forget her root pun, easily my favorite person. Zee, stay you okay?

Gonna take one at a time to day and plan my day. And off to see my fav. girl tonight. Weehoo =D

Dear self,
